Description
When you have a bunch of goats (or really any herd of animals) it can get really difficult to keep track of everyone as you are doing your weekly herd checks. I’ve got 11 full time goats plus 2 that we are raising for the freezer. On top of that, every fall through spring, I have an unknown amount of babies.
This is a HUGE problem when I am trying to keep track of who looks good, who’s FAMACHA isn’t great, and so on.
A couple of years ago, I created the Goat Health Tracker, which was amazing at keeping everything in one spot in regards to their health. I knew last fecals, birthings, treatments, etc. But the new problem was trying to remember which goat needed what!
Enter the herd check sheet. For a sheet that is so deceptively simple, it has changed the way we do our herd checks. Gone are the days were we are trying to remember who had a good FAMACHA, who needed deworming, or who injured themselves. It is ALL on this paper!
