If you are brand new to goats or are thinking about buying goats this is the course for you!

Goats can be fickle creatures but with the help of this crash course, you can have the knowledge to start caring for these amazing creatures.
Goats are not for the faint of heart. I always thought that the saying, “A goat will eat a tin can” was absolutely true.
I was WRONG!
There is probably more that will kill a goat than they can safely eat.
Proper shelter? Yes, they need one.
Are they escape artists? My neighbors rose bush says absolutely.

But they are amazing!
Goats are my therapy animal. I absolutely love them and I want you to as well.
The thing is though, they are in fact easy to kill. They try to unalive themselves constantly and it can be exhausting.
But You’ve Bought The Goat Crash Course: 101 which means you are ready to jump in and buy a goat. Or you did what we did, buy a couple goats and realize you are totally and completely unprepared for their shenanigans.

Why Is A Crash Course So Important?
When I brought my first two goats home, I was completely and totally clueless. I asked the guy that I bought them from for a crash course in goating…. And by the time I got home? I had already forgotten everything.
Voldemort was already sick when we got him, though we had no clue. Within two weeks he died from a worm overload.
I just wanted a crash course on how to care for these creatures! I just wanted someone to sit me down and say, “Here are the high points of owning goats.” But there was nothing out there.
After years of owning goats, researching, successes and failures, I created Goat Crash Course: 101.
What Is Goat 101
Goat 101 is the basics of goat ownership. Fencing, feed, shelters, how to do a goat assessment, and so on. It is every single thing I wish someone had told me when I bought our first goats.
The Hay Calculator is a must have when owning any livestock that eats hay. This thing is truly amazing. I have attached a video on how to use it below.
The Goat Assessment is another great starting off point. Until you get used to doing assessments, the best thing you can do is use this assessment. Once you have it down and know what your looking for, and looking at, you can follow your own assessment.
Lastly, the herd health sheets are my favorite thing that I have created for this farm. These sheets really help to keep track of who has gotten what treatments, what weights, why, and how. Because of this, I don’t have to worry about remembering who had a good FAMACHA and who didn’t. Or remembering body condition before and after treatments. It’s really great!
